Safety Audit

The PEI Safety Program Audit is aimed at helping companies provide a safe place of work for all employees. The program is completely confidential and available to Distributors doing business in the United States.

Each Safety Program Audit reviews company health and safety philosophies, training programs and facilities, as well as written corporate safety policies, chemical inventory sheets and various forms required by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The program does not include an onsite visit. Each audit will take approximately two weeks to complete. Distributors of all sizes are invited to participate.

The Safety Program Audit is administered by PEI Business Advisory Group-member Art Sodermark, assisted by PEI staff.

Sodermark is the training director and lead instructor for Clermont, Florida-based Platinum Engineering & Safety, Inc. and holds several training certifications including Certified Environmental Trainer, Certified Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Instructor, and American Safety and Health Institute Certified Trainer. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Safety Engineering, as well as a Master of Science Degree in Environmental Engineering.

Thanks to partial underwriting by PEI, the cost to PEI distributor members is only $400. For nonmembers, the cost is $745.

To start the audit process, Distributors should first review the Step-by-Step Audit Guide, located in the right hand column of this page. Next, complete the Audit Request Form, also located in the right hand column of this page and return to PEI at mwhitney@pei.org. Further questions about the program can be directed to Melinda Whitney at (918) 494-9696 or mwhitney@pei.org.

SDS Resource

The SDS (safety data sheets) is a widely used system for cataloging information on chemicals, chemical compounds and chemical mixtures. OSHA began requiring SDS's for hazardous materials in 1986. SDS information may include instructions for the safe use and potential hazards associated with a particular material.

To facilitate access to this information PEI offers this portal to the Vermont Safety Information Resources Index (SIRI).
