Dennis Rethmeier, president of Western Pump, Inc., San Diego, California, has been elected by the members of the Petroleum Equipment Institute to serve as vice president of the organization. He most recently served as PEI’s treasurer. Rethmeier was elected during the Institute's 59th annual convention and trade show in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will take office January 1.
Peter Ward, president of Glasgow Equipment Service, Inc., West Palm Beach, Florida, has been elected by the members of the Petroleum Equipment Institute (PEI) to serve as president of the organization. Illustrating its commitment to education and safety in the petroleum and liquid handling equipment industry, the Petroleum Equipment Institute has launched the PEI Learning Center, an interactive, safety-training website, created to promote a safer industry through education.

The public comment period is now open for review and revision of the Petroleum Equipment Institute’s RP1000, Recommended Practices for the Installation of Marina-Fueling Systems. The new document, which represents a synthesis of industry procedures, manufacturers’ recommendations and regulatory standards relating to marina fueling facilities, is expected to be published in late 2009.
The tabulation of ballots has been completed in the nominating election of PEI board members from our odd-numbered districts and the service & construction division. Three members received enough votes in the nominating stage of the election process to be elected to the board without having to participate in a runoff election.
The Petroleum Equipment Institute (PEI) has announced that Recommended Practices for the Design and Maintenance of Fluid-Distribution Systems at Vehicle Maintenance Facilities (PEI/RP700) is now available for purchase.
