schedule | districts | dutiescampaign guidelines

Each year we install newly elected directors during the membership meeting at our annual convention.

Each director serves a two-year term. Each year we elect half of the directors. In even years (2022, 2024, 2026, etc.) we elect directors from even-numbered districts and the Affiliate division. In odd-numbered years we elect directors from odd-numbered districts.

Distributor members and Service & Construction members are elected from nine geographic districts (see below). Manufacturer members are elected from four product group sections, or districts. Affiliate division members elect one representative.

Election Schedule

  • Mid-June - Nomination form submission deadline
  • Late June - Election ballots emailed out to all eligible PEI Primary Contacts
  • Mid-July - Deadline for ballot submissions
  • Late July - Runoff ballots emailed out to qualifying districts
  • Mid-August - Deadline for runoff ballot submissions for qualifying districts

PEI Election Campaign Guidelines

The election candidate who has confirmed his or her intention to be placed on the PEI Board of Directors Election Ballot and is running in a district/division with at least one other candidate has the opportunity to campaign per these PEI Election Campaign Guidelines.

  • Upon request of the candidate, PEI will send one text-based promotional email to the members of the candidate’s district/division. Please provide the text of your message and subject line. We do not include graphics or photos. Note that the email has to be from the candidate personally. We will not send endorsements or recommendations from co-workers, associates, endorsers or any other third parties. The promotional email will be sent from PEI Headquarters.
  • The promotional email must be received at PEI Headquarters by 5:00 pm CST on the Monday prior to the election ballots being sent out. The promotional email must be approved by PEI staff and will then be sent out, with all other candidates’ emails, beginning at 11:00 am CST, on the Wednesday before the election ballots go out.
  • If you wish to do any additional campaigning, PEI, upon request, will also provide you with a list of the members in your district/division. The list will contain each member company’s name, as well as their primary contact, address, fax and phone number. In accordance with longstanding policy to protect members against unwanted spam, the list will not include e-mail addresses.
  • PEI requests that all campaigning be limited strictly to the district or division in which you are running. For example, we ask that you not use any public or social media platforms in your campaigning.
  • If your election requires a runoff, you will be given an opportunity to send one more promotional email at that time, following the same guidelines.
