PEI Convention Registration

Member-Centricity
In the Q3 issue of the PEI Journal, which will publish next month, I discuss PEI's new mission and what it means to be a member-centric organization. As the organization continues to grow, we are reorienting our organizational culture and structure around our members. Watch for the magazine arriving in your mailboxes in July.
 
HR/Finance Conference
We have added one more conference to our robust educational line-up for 2022. The inaugural PEI HR/Finance Conference will take place Nov. 2-4 in Dallas, Texas. Tim Davidson has joined PEI as membership sales manager. In this new role, he will focus on growing PEI's membership base and assisting new members as they join the association. PEI Board Candidate Deadline: June 15
On June 1, PEI emailed procedures for this year’s board of directors elections to official representatives in even-numbered districts and the affiliate division. Under PEI’s constitution, an official representative or a duly appointed alternate must request that his or her name be included on the ballot. Official representatives and duly appointed alternates who would like to serve must complete and submit the Put My Name on the Ballot form by June 15. Ballots will be emailed on June 23. 2022 Cross-Industry Compensation Survey Available
PEI partnered with 22 other distributor-based associations to gather data for the 2022 Cross-Industry Compensation & Benefits Survey. The survey represents the most complete, accurate and up-to-date compensation and benefits data available. The report contains data on recruiting and retention; health care costs/trends; retirement benefits; vacations/PTO and holidays; sick and other leave; and sales practices. It also includes compensation-related statistics for common job titles in the industry. The survey may be purchased here.

REGULATORY UPDATES

EPA's Mid Fiscal Year 2022 Semiannual Report of UST Performance Measures 
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently released its semiannual report of underground storage tank (UST) performance measures. The report includes data on the number of active and closed petroleum tanks and hazardous substance tanks, releases confirmed, cleanups initiated and completed, and inspections conducted. EPA states that challenges associated with the supply chain and with staffing pressures continue to impact cleanup numbers. At mid fiscal year (FY) 2022, 3,246 cleanups were completed, less than the 3,439 completed cleanups reported at mid FY 2021. The report is available here.

EPA Emergency Power Generator UST Systems Resources
EPA has announced availability of new regulatory compliance and implementation assistance resources for emergency power generator (EPG) UST systems. The following resources are designed to assist owners & operators, regulators, service providers and other stakeholders with EPG regulatory compliance and implementation: EPA Finalizes Biofuels Blending Mandate 
On June 3, EPA finalized a package of actions setting biofuel volumes for the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) program for years 2020, 2021 and 2022. EPA set the total renewable fuel volume requirement for 2022 at 20.63 billion gallons and retroactive volume mandates for 2021 at 18.84 billion gallons and for 2020 at 17.13 billion gallons. Freedom Electronics has acquired ESCO Services Inc. and its branches in Michigan, Florida and Colorado. This acquisition will allow Freedom Electronics to expand its offerings of fuel dispenser, point-of-sale (POS) and automated tank gauge products and services. Based in Kennesaw, Georgia, Freedom Electronics specializes in aftermarket parts such as controls, circuit boards and POS systems for the retail petroleum industry. ESCO, founded in 1979, supplies retail petroleum products and carries multiple product lines.
 
Leighton O’Brien has signed an agreement with Georgia-based Diversified Energy Supply to deploy its ATG compliance and alarm management software for automated environmental compliance and effective ATG alarm response. Diversified Energy Supply is a fuel supplier operating in 40 states. Leighton O’Brien is a global fuel software analytics and field technologies provider.
 
Oscar W. Larson Company has acquired Crompco, LLC, a provider of compliance management, site inspection, managed services and information services for fuel infrastructure across the United States. Crompco has a full line of compliance management services, a proprietary advanced meter calibration service, a proprietary SaaS and data management platform and offers parts distribution and light construction services. Oscar Larson is an end-to-end equipment distributor and provides installation, testing, inspection, maintenance and repair services to energy infrastructure and other customers across multiple regions.

RDM Industrial Electronics Inc., based in Nebo, North Carolina, has purchased a 20,000-square-foot building with 10 acres for further expansion in neighboring Marion, North Carolina. This additional facility brings RDM’s combined square footage to 81,444 with locations in North Carolina, Colorado, Florida, Indiana and Texas. RDM remanufactures petroleum electronic equipment and manufactures RDM Intercoms.

DEATH NOTICE

Lucas Ford Jr., 93, died May 20 in Gainesville, Florida. Lucas started his career in the petroleum industry working for Herschell Southard at Petroleum Equipment Co. in Greenville, South Carolina, where he advanced from parts to sales and was ultimately promoted to branch manager. In 1968, he became the territory manager in Florida for Whiteway Lighting. In 1976, Ford founded Lucas Ford Associates, and his two sons became full partners in 2000. He was an active member in PEI. A celebration of life will be held at 5 p.m. July 16 at St. Petersburg Yacht Club Downtown, St. Petersburg, Florida.
