PEI Mid-Year Board Meeting Update
The PEI Board of Directors met April 20 to discuss the association’s mission and strategic direction, review the 2022 membership survey, approve committee reports and adopt the 2022-2023 fiscal year budget. Here are a few meeting highlights:
PEI MissionThe board approved PEI’s mission statement:
PEI is the authority and source of information for the energy handling equipment industry. PEI is a member-centric organization dedicated to improving the business and operational practices of its members and expanding opportunities for their growth.
Strategic Direction. Additionally, to enable PEI’s mission, the following directional strategy was adipted:
PEI is a growth-oriented trade association providing industry solutions to its members in the energy equipment handling community. The objectives of PEI’s growth-oriented strategy are to a) improve PEI’s share of its addressable market, b) increase member reliance on PEI for education and business solutions, and c) improve member engagement.
Budget. The board approved a balanced for FY 2022–2023 budget which included a revenue increase of 10% over the previous fiscal year to $3.8MM.
Membership Satisfaction. Results from the 2022 membership survey show that 86% of respondants agree or strongly agree that PEI is achieving its mission. Additionally, 87% were satisfied or very satisfied with their PEI membership. Supply chain issues, hiring and training employees and the economy were among the biggest concerns identified.

Ford Begins Production on F-150 Lightning
Ford has started full production on its all-electric F-150 Lightning pickup truck. The automaker capped reservations at 200,000 and has stopped taking orders for the 2022 model year. The base version of the truck starts at $40,000 and gets an estimated range of 230 miles. More

EPA Issues Emergency Fuel Waiver for E15 Sales
On April 29, the Environmental Protection Agency issued an emergency fuel waiver to allow summertime sales of a gasoline blend containing 15% ethanol (E15). The emergency fuel waiver went into effect May 1 and will last for 20 days. The move by EPA was made to counter a spike in gas prices related to the Russian-Ukrainian war. More
