BRIEFLY NOTED “[V]ehicle miles traveled (VMT) in the U.S. remain sharply lower than year-ago levels. … During August, total VMTs were down 12.3%, or 35.3 billion miles, when compared to August 2019. Total travel during the month based on FHA data was 251.3 billion miles. … There was a small silver lining as the FHA saw VMTs pointing higher in August when compared to July with a 0.8% increase, roughly 2 billion vehicle miles.” — Oil Express Alert, Oct. 19 “Warm weather, recommended outdoor gatherings, and a preference for car travel over air travel prompted summer road travel despite COVID concerns. In Q3, station visits were on average 17% higher than our index. … As of September 19, station visits are back in line with the first quarter before the coronavirus lockdowns.” — Gas Buddy Consumer Ratings and Foot Traffic Report, July – September, Q3 2020 PEI
