Dear PEI Member: Earlier this week, Hurricane Dorian caused unprecedented devastation and at least 20 fatalities in the Bahamas. Today, storm surges and high winds are buffeting the U.S. Eastern Seaboard. Even coastal communities that escape a direct hit likely will sustain serious damage to homes, businesses and fueling facilities. PEI members in Dorian’s path will play a crucial role in the cleanup and recovery — testing, inspecting, assessing environmental impacts and, ultimately, bringing fueling systems back online. PEI is ready to assist in this effort, as well. One year ago (as Hurricane Michael approached the Gulf Coast), PEI launched a Disaster Preparation & Recovery Resources page on our website. The site is conveniently organized into three sections:

LAWSUIT
ALLEGES GM TRUCKS INCOMPATIBLE WITH ULSD According to the plaintiffs, GM knew or ought to have known of the problem because other vehicle manufacturers reported issues with similar pumps as early as 2008. The suit also claims that the pump’s manufacturer specifications require fuel with higher lubricity than that provided by ULSD.
