EPA PROPOSES RENEWABLE FUEL VOLUMES
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
proposed volume requirements for cellulosic biofuel, advanced biofuel and
total renewable fuel for 2020, as well as biomass-based diesel volume
standards for 2021. The
proposed rulemaking increases the overall 2020 renewable fuel volume
from 19.92 billion gallons to 20.04 billion gallons but maintains the
conventional corn-based ethanol requirement at 15 billion gallons. The
proposal sets the 2021 biomass-based diesel level at 2.43 billion gallons.
The EPA
will hold a July 31 public hearing on the proposal in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
