Dear PEI Member: The nominating elections for PEI Board of Directors seats in even-numbered districts and the Affiliate Division have been completed. A total of 15 individuals submitted their names as candidates this year. Six members who were either unopposed or received the required number of votes in the nominating election have been certified winners by the PEI Election Commission. Here are the election results, as certified by Kevin McKinney, McKinney Petroleum Equipment, Mobile, Alabama, chairman of the PEI Election Commission. 30-DAY COMMENT PERIOD ON RP300 Although the installation of vapor recovery equipment has all but disappeared in most of the United States, this type of work is increasing in other countries. In recent days, PEI also has received several questions and comments about the proper procedures for decommissioning Stage II vapor recovery equipment. While the PEI Vapor Recovery Installation Committee is particularly interested in comments on decommissioning procedures, stakeholders are invited to comment on any section in the document. To submit your suggestions for improving RP300, visit www.pei.org/rp300 and click the “Comment Now” button. Comments must be submitted by Monday, Aug. 20, to be considered for inclusion in the next edition.
PASS-THROUGH TAX REGULATIONS DELAYED Under Section 199A of last December’s federal tax reform legislation, pass-through entities are now entitled to deduct 20% of their “qualified business income,” a change that will dramatically lower many of these companies’ income taxes. This week, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced that it expects to publish the rules governing Section 199A by the end of July—one month later than originally promised. Whenever the Section 199A rules are released, the Small Business Legislative Council (SBLC) will publish a primer to help pass-through businesses understand how to qualify for and take advantage of the new deduction. As a member of the SBLC, PEI will provide this document to our members as soon as it is released. PEI MEMBER
