Dear PEI Member: Robert Peavey, president of PumpTex
Inc., Beaumont, Texas, became the 68th president of the Petroleum Equipment
Institute on Jan. 1. He succeeds Craig Hoyer, president of Kubat Equipment &
Service Co., Denver. Charlie Burns, president of Oscar W. Larson Co.,
Clarkston, Michigan, is PEI’s 2018 vice president.
One of Peavey’s first actions was the appointment of 182
individuals to serve on 25 PEI committees in 2018. This includes 14 members
who have not served previously on a PEI committee. As has been true in
recent years, the number of qualified PEI members who applied to serve
exceeded the number of open committee positions. Although we were not able
to place every volunteer, we thank all who offered their services.
If you are
interested in serving on a PEI committee in 2019, email your committee
preferences and a brief summary of your qualifications to PEI Executive Vice
President Rick Long at
rlong@pei.org.
You can find
a complete list of all 2018 committees and committee members

FREE TAX
REFORM WEBINAR, TUESDAY, JAN. 9
The nearly 700-page tax reform bill signed into law by
President Trump on Dec. 22 will mean significant changes for businesses and
individuals alike. To help members better understand what the key
provisions will mean, PEI is sponsoring a free, one-hour webinar on the
legislation Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 11 a.m. CST.
The webinar,
"Understanding the New Tax Bill – How Will It Impact Small Business?,"
is presented in cooperation with the Washington, D.C.-based Small Business
Legislative Council (SBLC), a broad-based coalition of trade and
professional associations, including PEI.
Presenters are Paula Calimafde and Jessica Summers. Calimafde, president and
general counsel of the SBLC, is a veteran Capitol Hill observer and tax
lawyer. Summers is a Washington, D.C. attorney who also serves as the SBLC’s
strategic policy director. During the webinar, Calimafde and Summers will
discuss the impact of tax reform on small businesses and their owners, as
well as additional tax-related “corrective actions” Congress could take in
2018. Registered attendees may submit questions in advance and during the
live discussion.
All PEI
members are invited to take advantage of this exceptional opportunity.
Participation in the webinar is free, but
advance registration is required. After registering, you will receive a
confirmation email with additional instructions for joining the webinar. |
