Dear PEI Member: Early-bird attendee registration and housing are now open
for the
2016 PEI Convention at the NACS Show.
The event will be held October 18-21 in Atlanta, Georgia, at the Georgia
World Congress Center (GWCC).
Early-bird convention registrants receive significant
discounts before June 24. Full early-bird registration is $295 for PEI
members and $495 for nonmembers. This includes admission to all education
sessions, all three days of the trade show, the PEI Industry Reception and
the NACS Welcome Reception. Companies that register five or more employees
are eligible for group discounts. Early-bird and group discounts are
available through June 24. After June 24, full registration rates go up to
$445 for members and $645 for nonmembers. Please note that exhibitor
registration, which will open in June, must be processed through NACS.
The PEI headquarters hotel is the Westin Peachtree Plaza,
which is conveniently located within walking distance (5 minutes) to the
GWCC. Many PEI events will be hosted at the Westin Peachtree Plaza,
including the PEI 10-Groups Breakfast and General Session, as well as the
10-Groups meetings. The PEI Women Session, the Young Executives Discussion
Groups and Reception, and the PEI After-Hours Lounge also will be held at
the Westin. PEI also has room blocks at the Hilton Atlanta, the Holiday Inn
Downtown Centennial Park and the Hyatt Regency Atlanta. We strongly
encourage you to book your rooms early.

COMMITTEE MEMBERS SOUGHT TO WRITE RECOMMENDED PRACTICE
ON REMOVAL AND DECOMMISSIONING OF USTS AND SHOP-FABRICATED ASTS
PEI is soliciting individuals who would like to serve on the committee
responsible for writing PEI’s new Recommended Practices for the Removal
and Decommissioning of USTs and Shop Fabricated ASTs (working title).
The purpose of this document is to provide a concise reference that
describes recommended practices for the safe decommissioning, removal and
disposal of underground storage tanks and shop fabricated aboveground
storage tanks used to store gasoline, diesel and related petroleum products.
All members of the committee will be expected to attend
three or four two-day meetings over a 24-month period. While committee
members cover their own expenses, PEI pays for the meals during the
meetings. Only individuals having relevant experience with removing and/or
decommissioning USTs and/or shop fabricated ASTs should apply. People
interested in serving on this committee should contact Bob Young at
byoung@pei.org by June 17 to
volunteer. All interested individuals should include a brief statement
describing their experience in this type of work, relevant qualifications
and why they are interested in serving on the committee. All appointments
will be made by 2016 PEI president Steve Trabilsy.
BILL INTRODUCED TO CAP ETHANOL VOLUME AT 9.7%
Reps. Bill Flores (R-TX), Peter Welch (D-VT), Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) and
Jim Costa (D-CA) have introduced legislation known as “The Food and Fuel
Consumer Protection Act,” (H.R. 5180), which directs the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) to cap the maximum volume of ethanol blended into
the nation’s fuel supply at 9.7 percent of projected gasoline demand as
determined by the Energy Information Administration (EIA). The bill also
requires EPA to meet its statutory deadlines in setting annual RFS volumes.
If EPA fails to meet a deadline, the previous RFS volumes under the blend
wall would apply.
CONVENIENCE STORE/OIL COMPANY ACQUISITIONS
7-Eleven Inc., through its wholly owned subsidiary
SEI Fuel Services Inc., has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase
76 convenience stores in California and 3 in Wyoming from CST Brands,
San Antonio, Texas. The purchase price for the transaction is $408 million.
Sunshine Fuel LLC, Palm Beach, Florida, is selling a bulk package of
leasehold interests in 21 convenience stores with gasoline in Kansas (16),
Missouri (3) and Oklahoma (2), along with sublease/fuel supply interests in
the stores. The package includes jobber fuel supply agreements with Shell
and ConocoPhillips.
TAC Energy, a division of Arnold Cos., has bought Brockton,
Massachusetts-based Mutual Oil’s existing unbranded fuel distribution
business. The deal is expected to close May 31.--Oil Express News

INDUSTRY NOTES
The Southeast Pennsylvania Transit Authority
(SEPTA) will pay a $116,843 fine to settle allegations that it violated UST
regulations at five Philadelphia bus garages. EPA said SEPTA failed to
properly test their product lines or had improper leak detectors for their
USTs. EPA did not find any leaks.

PumpTex Inc., Beaumont, Texas, has promoted Jay Ruth to sales manager.
Ruth will be responsible for managing the PumpTex network of sales
representatives in Texas and Louisiana.
Petroleum Solutions, Inc. (PSI), Austin, Texas, has
named Michael Jorgenson regional director in support of the company’s North
Texas markets. Jorgenson’s new role includes oversight, direct management
and strategic planning for the Austin, Temple, Tyler and DFW markets.
Tanknology Inc., Austin, Texas, has promoted William (Bill) Logue to
regional vice president of the company’s Northeastern United States region.
He will oversee operations for the company in an area that covers the
Eastern Seaboard from Maine to Virginia. Logue is based in the company’s Mt.
Laurel, New Jersey, office.
D&H UNITED FUELING SOLUTIONS ACQUIRES DNL
D&H United Fueling Solutions has acquired DNL Petroleum Service and
Maintenance, Houston, Texas. DNL will be the Houston branch office for D&H
United Fueling Solutions. Darin Gingrich, DNL’s founder, will be the branch
manager of the Houston office. DNL personnel located in Dallas will
join the D&H branch in Dallas.
