Dear PEI Member:

During the 2013 PEI Convention in Atlanta, PEI hosted a session to explore the interest level and potential programming for a women’s peer networking group. Sixty-four women representing all PEI membership divisions participated.

Responses to a survey completed by session participants encouraged us to move forward with the development of a program for women in our industry. In addition, 23 women volunteered in Atlanta to serve on a steering committee to work on possible programming and governance of the group. The steering committee will meet in January.

Before the January meeting, the steering committee needs to have a good idea about the number of potentially interested individuals and the type of program that would best serve the participants. If you were unable to attend the convention session and would like to be included on future communications relating to the women’s peer networking program, please fill out a short survey and/or provide your contact information. Similarly, if you attended the session in Atlanta, liked the idea of a woman’s networking group but left without giving us a completed form, now is the time to let us know of your interest.

BRIEFLY NOTED
“So far in 2013, retail margin on regular grade
averages 15.1₵ gal. This is 0.6₵ above full year 2012 retail margin. And it beats the all-time high margin, 14.6₵ gal. achieved in 2011. This is a remarkable performance, and by year’s end will likely mark a new record high for retail margin. On October 18, margin is holding firm at 15.4₵ gal.”—Lundberg Letter, October 25, 2013.
OPW, A Dover Company, Cincinnati, Ohio, has promoted Scott Heim to eastern regional sales manager for retail fueling. He will be based out of Valencia, Pennsylvania.

More than 250 gasoline stations in New Jersey left without power by Hurricane Sandy will be eligible for $7 million in federal funding to buy generators to keep fuel pumping in the event of another large-scale power failure, Governor Chris Christie’s office said October 21. The federal program is voluntary, with most of the selected stations eligible for up to $15,000 to install a permanent connection for mobile generators or offset a portion of the cost of purchasing a generator. About 50 stations with larger fuel storage capacities will be eligible for up to $65,000 in funding toward the purchase and installation of an onsite generator.
