Dear PEI Member: President Barack Obama signed the "Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010" into law on December 19. The sweeping package, which includes $801 billion in tax cuts and $57 billion for extended unemployment insurance, also includes five programs designed to promote the U.S. ethanol and biodiesel industries. The law extends the ethanol tax credit (45˘/gal), the small ethanol producer tax credit (10˘/gal), and the alternative vehicle property tax credit at a 30 percent rate through the end of 2011. In addition, the law retroactively extends the biodiesel tax incentive and renewable diesel incentive, from when it expired at the end of 2009 through the end of 2011. The law also renews the tariff (54˘/gal) on imported (Brazilian) ethanol for one year, through the end of 2011. PEI SALES BOOT CAMPS COMING TO A LOCATION NEAR YOU Richard P.
