Dear PEI Member:

President Barack Obama signed the "Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010" into law on December 19.

The sweeping package, which includes $801 billion in tax cuts and $57 billion for extended unemployment insurance, also includes five programs designed to promote the U.S. ethanol and biodiesel industries. The law extends the ethanol tax credit (45˘/gal), the small ethanol producer tax credit (10˘/gal), and the alternative vehicle property tax credit at a 30 percent rate through the end of 2011. In addition, the law retroactively extends the biodiesel tax incentive and renewable diesel incentive, from when it expired at the end of 2009 through the end of 2011. The law also renews the tariff (54˘/gal) on imported (Brazilian) ethanol for one year, through the end of 2011.

PEI SALES BOOT CAMPS COMING TO A LOCATION NEAR YOU
Want to improve sales? PEI's 2011 Sales Boot Camps provide practical, time-tested and sometimes surprising information on how to avoid becoming a commodity in the eyes of your customer and how to transform the customer's perception of you into that of a valued strategic advisor.

Richard P. Farrell, president of Tangent Knowledge Systems, believes that salespeople should stop selling, presenting, answering objections and closing, and should instead play the role of "change agent." His passionate, provocative and interactive style encourages audience participation, learning and improvement while providing real-world, actionable information.

PEI is sponsoring the PEI Sales Boot Camp in three locations next year:

  • March 10-11 - Las Vegas, Nevada, Embassy Suites
  • April 5-6 - Linthicum (Baltimore), Maryland, Embassy Suites BWI Airport
  • April 7-8 - Rosemont, Illinois, Hilton Rosemont/Chicago O'Hare Hotel

PEI SERVICE RATES SURVEY
If your company provides service or maintenance to the industry, please take a few minutes to complete PEI's annual Service Rates Survey. This short survey covers services rates, wages and service policies. We will compile the results of this survey by geographic area. Your participation allows us to compile more accurate and representative data. Your company will not be identified in the survey results.

The survey will be live through January 7, 2011, at which time we will begin to review the data. Results will be distributed to participating member companies beginning January 15, 2011. If your company provides service work and you did not receive the survey announcement, email Chris Bouldin at cbouldin@pei.org.
