Union [1]

A pipe fitting designed to permit convenient connection and disconnection of piping with other components in the system. In a gasoline [2] station, unions are typically installed at the points where the submersible pump and the dispenser connect to the piping.

Unions should not be buried, but should be installed in a position that will permit easy access.
