Positive Displacement Pump [1]

A device that causes a fluid to move by trapping a fixed amount of fluid in a chamber and then applying pressure to force the fluid out of the chamber through a discharge outlet. Check valves [2] at the inlet and outlet of the fluid chamber control the direction of fluid flow.

A diaphragm pump [3] and a stick pump [4] are positive displacement pumps.
