Hold Open Latch [1]

A clip device on an automatic nozzle [2], which, once set in place by the operator holds the nozzle open and permits motor fuel to flow, even if the operator does not keep his or her hand on the nozzle. When the liquid level in the motorist's tank reaches the point where it enters a hole in the side of the nozzle spout, the nozzle cuts off the flow of liquid and the hold-open latch is disengaged.
