Dike [1]

A wall or embankment made of earth, concrete, or steel, around the perimeter of one or more aboveground tanks.

Dikes are designed to retain product that might accidentally be released from the tanks or their related equipment, and thus to minimize the possibility of off-site water contamination or fire danger.
