Bedding [1]

When an underground storage tank  [2]is being installed, industry recommended practices call for a layer of backfill [3] to be placed on the bottom of the excavation, as well as on the bottom of pipe trenches.

This layer of pea gravel [4], crushed rock, or sand provides a uniform “bed” that cushions and supports the bottom of the tank and piping.
