The Petroleum Equipment Institute (PEI) has announced that Rick Long has joined the Tulsa-based international trade association as General Manager.
A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Long earned a bachelors degree from Southern Methodist University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Texas School of Law, both with honors.
Prior to founding the marketing and branding firm SOURCEmpi (formerly Source Publications) in 1989, Long practiced law with Tulsa-based GableGotwals and served as Executive Vice President of Floral Finance, Inc. Over the past year, SOURCEmpi has played a key role in the development of PEI's new brand and web site at www.pei.org.
An accomplished writer, editor and strategist, Long lives in Tulsa with his wife Patti. He has 3 children—Carolyn, a recent graduate of the University of Tulsa; Becky, a junior at Texas Christian University; and Stephen, a high school junior. Long can be reached at rlong@pei.org.
Long replaces Connie Dooley, who will scale back her responsibilities and remain at PEI on a part-time basis. Dooley, in her new role, will assume the title of Director of Convention Planning. Dooley is a 15-year veteran of PEI and can be reached at cdooley@pei.org.
Founded in 1951, PEI is comprised of more than 1,500 companies engaged in the manufacturing and distribution of equipment used in petroleum marketing and related operations. Members are located in 50 states and 81 countries. PEI is the international trade association for distributors, manufacturers and installers of equipment used in petroleum-marketing and liquid-handling operations. Users of the equipment include service station and convenience-store owners, terminals, bulk plants and airport refueling operations. The Institute's headquarters are located in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
