PEI YOUNG EXECS DUST BOOTS FOR NASHVILLE 2018 [1]

TULSA, Oklahoma, Nov. 21, 2017/Petroleum Equipment Institute/ -- PEI Young Executives (YEs) should dust off their boots in preparation for the 2018 PEI Young Executives Winter Conference [2]. Originally planned for hurricane-hit San Juan, the event will move to The Hermitage Hotel in Nashville with the same schedule, speakers and dates — Feb. 7-9, 2018.
“Our YE members have tossed Nashville around for several years, so when Puerto Rico fell through, we negotiated an exceptional rate at Tennessee’s only Forbes Five Star hotel,” said Rick Long, executive vice president of PEI. “Just as exciting as being in downtown Nashville are this year’s new education, networking and sponsorship opportunities. And we’re also doing something special to encourage attendees to stay on-site at The Hermitage and get the most from full immersion in the conference.”
PEI is offering to the first 50 YE registrants who book rooms at The Hermitage Hotel an additional $40 discount per night on Feb. 7 and 8 — a net $239 room rate. Otherwise, the guaranteed PEI negotiated room rate at The Hermitage Hotel is $279 a night if booked by Jan. 2.
The additional room discount is available because for the first time, PEI is offering several sponsorship levels for the Young Executives Winter Conference. Sponsorships will be available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning Wednesday, Nov. 22.
As for new educational and networking offerings, a panel of five industry experts will engage throughout the conference to mentor PEI Young Executives. The conversational panel, “What I Would Tell My Younger Self,” promises to be 100 percent audience-driven and PowerPoint-free.
Panelists are:
- 2018 PEI President Robert J. Peavey, president of PumpTex Inc.
- 2017 PEI President and former YE member Craig Hoyer, president of Kubat Equipment & Service Co.
- PEI Women and former PEI board member Sara Beck, chairman and CEO of Meco Inc. (Montgomery)
- 2009 PEI President Blair D. Shwedo Sr., president of SouthEastern Petroleum Systems Inc.
- Former PEI board and YE member Brad Baker, executive vice president of Husky Corp.
The keynote speaker is Garrison Wynn, author of “The Real Truth About Success: What the Top 1% Do Differently, Why They Won't Tell You, and How You Can Do It Anyway!”
Long said he expects the 2018 conference in Nashville to be the best YE Winter Conference yet.
The 2017 Young Executives Winter Conference in St. Augustine, Florida, drew 90 attendees from 52 PEI member companies. Nearly all attendees held leadership positions with purchasing power: 12.1 percent were presidents, CEOs or owners; 15.5 percent were vice presidents; 12.1 percent were directors; 50 percent were managers; and 10.3 percent had other titles.
The 2018 PEI Young Executives Winter Conference is open to employees of PEI member companies who are between 21 and 45. Early bird registration, which is $495 for YE members and $595 for non-YE members, ends Dec. 15, 2017. (Registration is $595 and $695 after Dec. 15.) Registration includes receptions, meals, breaks, conference materials and lifetime YE membership. Spouses and guests who do not work in the industry may enjoy receptions and meals for $125.
