PEI Publishes Vapor Recovery Document [1]

Submitted by jessica on December 16, 2009 - 15:26

The Petroleum Equipment Institute (PEI) has announced that the Recommended Practices for Installation and Testing of Vapor Recovery Systems at Vehicle Fueling Sites (PEI/RP300) is now available for purchase.

The document, produced by the PEI Vapor-Recovery Installation Committee, provides a basic reference that focuses on vapor-recovery systems located at vehicle-fueling facilities. The revised document is expanded to include a chapter on decommissioning Stage II equipment and recent revisions by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to the vapor-recovery testing procedures. RP300-09 supersedes and replaces all previously published versions.

The Recommended Practices contains chapters, drawings and photographs on all phases of proper vapor-recovery equipment installation and testing along with a chapter of definitions. Included are chapters covering Stage I and Stage II vapor-recovery systems, Stage II vapor-recovery system components, aboveground and underground piping and fittings, pressure decay testing, dynamic back pressure testing, air-to-liquid volume ratio testing, electrical installation, testing, inspection, documentation and training.

The single-copy price for RP300 is $40 for PEI members or $95 for nonmembers. The Recommended Practices can be purchased by visiting www.pei.org/RP300.

Other PEI recommended practices publications currently available include Installation of Underground Liquid Storage Systems (RP100); Installation of Aboveground Storage Systems (RP200); Testing Electrical Continuity of Fuel-Dispensing Hanging Hardware (RP400); Inspection and Maintenance of Motor Fuel Dispensing Equipment (RP500); Overfill Prevention for Aboveground Storage Tanks (RP600); Design and Maintenance of Fluid-Distribution Systems (RP700); Installation of Bulk Storage Plants (RP800); and the Inspection and Maintenance of UST Systems (RP900). Recommended practice documents on the Installation of Marina-Fueling Systems (RP1000) and the Storage and Dispensing of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (RP1100) will be released in January 2010.

Founded in 1951, PEI is comprised of more than 1,600 companies engaged in the manufacturing and distribution of equipment used in petroleum marketing and related operations. Members are located in 50 states and 81 countries. PEI is the international trade association for distributors, manufacturers and installers of equipment used in petroleum-marketing and liquid-handling operations. Users of the equipment include service station and convenience-store owners, terminals, bulk plants and airport refueling operations. The Institute's headquarters are located in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
