Submitted by jessica on March 3, 2010 - 15:13

The Petroleum Equipment Institute (PEI) has announced two new 2010 PEI safety awareness posters are now available for purchase.

The posters, designed as part of PEI's commitment to the success and safety of its member companies, depict two safety issues currently present in the petroleum equipment industry: distracted driving and situational awareness.

The posters were designed by the 2009 PEI Safety Committee and illustrated by artist Bill Patterson of Tulsa, Oklahoma. PEI has printed 31 safety awareness posters since 1992 on industry specific topics such as barricading the workplace, lock out/tag out, confined space entry and excavation safety.

The single-copy price for the posters is $2.00 for PEI members or $3.00 for nonmembers. The safety posters can be viewed and purchased by visiting www.pei.org/shopping [2].

The PEI Safety Committee is made up of industry safety experts from across North America and includes Victor Ayala, D & H Pump Service; Charles Burns, Oscar W. Larson Co.; Steve Fletcher, Northwest Pump & Equipment Co.; Dave Roller, United Rentals Trench Safety; Philip J. Ruth, PumpTex Inc.; Linda Boutin, Service Station Systems Inc.; Glenn Farmer, D&H Pump Service; Greg Sprios, Superior Equipment Co. Inc.; Mike Hays, Double Check Company, Inc.; Arnold Hughes, Petroservice; and Art Sodermark, Platinum Engineering and Safety Inc.

In addition to the annual posters, the PEI Safety program authors Dos and Don'ts, which highlight safety concerns within the petroleum equipment industry and are available free of charge on the PEI website. The association also publishes two free, monthly safety newsletters, the SafetyLetter and SafePractices, and offers, through a partnership with Coastal Training Technologies, an interactive, safety-training website, www.pei.org/safety [3], that offers safety training and videos in a variety of topics.

Founded in 1951, PEI is comprised of more than 1,600 companies engaged in the manufacturing and distribution of equipment used in petroleum and energy handling industry. Members are located in 50 states and 81 countries.
