The Petroleum Equipment Institute (PEI) has announced that the online version of the PEI Journal achieved record readership in 2012. The PEI Journal is the official magazine of the petroleum equipment industry and the premier source for business, industry and association news. Published quarterly both online and in traditional print form, the PEI Journal features in-depth coverage of emerging trends and new products, as well as profiles of PEI member companies and other movers and shakers in the industry.

The PEI Journal, first published online in Q4 of 2009, showed significant growth in the number of unique visitors and page views in 2012. Average per-issue page views increased to 20,177, a 25 percent year-over-year increase, while unique visitors increased 21 percent. The online PEI Journal also reached new highs in 2012 in time spent on the website, with 30 percent of all visitors viewing 20 pages or more.

“We are incredibly proud that the online PEI Journal is becoming such a widely used source of information for the fuel and fluid handling equipment industry,” said Rick Long, editor in chief and PEI general manager. “Our staff has worked hard to improve the online experience for those that prefer to read the Journal in its digital form, and that work obviously is paying off.

“As professionals in the industry have become more digitally connected, so too has their engagement with the website,” Long continued, noting that the average visit to the PEI Journal website lasted 5 minutes, 40 seconds in 2012, compared to an average of 5 minutes, 23 seconds for other media and news service websites.

The PEI Journal website, which can be found at www.peijournal.org, offers the look and feel of a paper magazine, with all content and ads contained in the print edition, the convenience of searchable text and hyperlinks. Users will find the digital edition easy to use, as no additional software or plugins are required. The online PEI Journal is downloadable and optimized for mobile, desktop or tablet viewing. In 2012, a total of 10 percent of all website views came from mobile devices or tablets.

The PEI Journal site also includes a searchable archive of past issues and can be viewed free of charge by members and non-members alike.
