TULSA, Oklahoma, Feb. 5, 2019/Petroleum Equipment Institute/-- The National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW) appointed PEI Executive Vice President Rick Long to its board of directors. The NAW’s Association Executives Council (AEC) also appointed Long chair-elect.
"This opportunity is a recognition of the respect the Petroleum Equipment Institute has earned in the distribution community,” Long said. “I'm looking forward to assisting NAW and the AEC in advancing the crucial role distribution plays in our nation's economy.”
The NAW is composed of wholesaler-distributors and a federation of international, national, regional, state and local associations and their member firms, which total more than 30,000 employers with locations in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
NAW’s constituency is a vital link in the supply chain among manufacturers, retailers and commercial, institutional and governmental end users. Distribution firms vary widely in size, employ more than 5.9 million U.S. workers and account for nearly $5.7 trillion in annual U.S. economic activity, which is 6 percent of the overall economy. Wholesaler-distributors are publicly held or closely held, family-owned companies that have served their local communities and regions for decades and, in some cases, for more than a century.
NAW’s mission is to pursue goals and interests which transcend individual commodity lines.
The AEC includes 70 national associations.
Founded in 1951, PEI is composed of more than 1,600 companies engaged in manufacturing and distributing equipment used in the fuel and fluid handling industry.
