PEI Board of Directors 2019 Mid-Year Meeting Update [1]
Submitted by Melinda Whitney on
Dear PEI Member:
The PEI Board of Directors met on April 5 in Nashville. During the meeting, directors updated the association’s strategic long-range plan, reviewed committee reports and addressed other matters of importance to the association and the industry. The 2019 strategic long-range plan includes an initiative to present to the PEI members proposed amendments to the constitution and bylaws that would allow for better representation of the distributor division and the service and construction division on the board of directors. The April 17, 2019 TulsaLetter [2] provided an overall summary of the meeting and the board’s actions.
Plans are well underway for the 2019 PEI Convention at the NACS Show, Oct. 1-4 in Atlanta. More than 600 booths of direct interest to PEI members have already sold, and the remaining booths are going fast. Convention registration is available here [3]. Housing reservations can be made here [4].
PEI’s Recommended Practices (RPs) continue to be a great service to the industry—including the most recent addition, RP1700 (closure of underground storage tanks and shop-fabricated aboveground storage tanks). Three updated and revised PEI recommended practices are available for purchase: RP200 (installation of aboveground storage systems); RP 300 (installation and testing of vapor recovery systems); and RP600 (overfill prevention for shop-fabricated aboveground tanks). In addition, the 30-day comment period on draft revisions to RP1200 (testing and verification of spill, overfill prevention and secondary containment) is open through June 15. The proposed revisions add low liquid level containment sump testing procedures to Chapter 6: Spill Bucket and Containment Sump Testing. To review the draft revision and submit comments, visit www.pei.org/rp1200 [5] and click the “Comment Now” link. Each RP is available in print, PDF or a print/PDF combination, so you can choose the format that best fits your needs. Click here [6] for a complete list of all recommended practices titles.
Organizationally, the association remains very strong. At the meeting, the board approved a $4,082,003 budget for the 2019-20 fiscal year (April 1 through March 31).
