PEI Board of Directors Mid-Year Meeting Update

Dear PEI Member:

The PEI Board of Directors met on April 20 in Hilton Head, South Carolina. During the meeting, directors updated the association’s strategic long range plan, reviewed committee reports and addressed other matters of importance to the association and the industry. The April 27 TulsaLetter provided an overall summary of the meeting and the board’s actions.

Plans are well underway for the 2018 PEI Convention at the NACS Show, Oct. 7-10 in Las Vegas. More than 600 booths of direct interest to PEI members have already been sold, and the remaining booths are going fast. Educational sessions on the economy, safety, the future of retail fueling, and business valuation are planned. Early-bird registration, which is now open, will save members $150 per attendee. Convention housing reservations can be made here.

PEI’s recommended practices continue to play a crucial role in the industry. Five documents are slated for revision this fiscal year: RP200 (installation of aboveground storage systems); RP500 (inspection and maintenance of dispensing equipment); RP600 (overfill protection for shop-fabricated aboveground tanks); RP800 (installation of bulk storage plants); and RP1300 (aviation fueling systems). Work continues on the new RP1600 (LNG fueling systems) and the new RP1700 (closure of underground storage tanks and shop-fabricated aboveground storage tanks). Public comments on the draft of RP1700 are being accepted through Friday, June 15. Individuals interested in commenting may download the draft and submit comments at www.pei.org/RP1700.  Click here for a complete list of all PEI recommended practices.

Organizationally, the association remains very strong. At the meeting, the board approved a $3,970,812 budget for the 2018-19 fiscal year (April 1 through March 31). The board also approved a new dues structure that will go into effect with the 2019 membership renewal cycle.
