PEI SEEKS 2018-19 KEMP SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANTS

TULSA, Oklahoma, Dec. 1, 2017/Petroleum Equipment Institute/ -- The Petroleum Equipment Institute (PEI) is accepting applications for the PEI Foundation’s Charles D. Kemp Scholarships for the 2018-19 academic year. The deadline to apply is March 31, 2018.

The $1,000 scholarships recognize deserving students who are dependents of full-time employees of PEI member companies in manufacturer, distributor, service and construction or affiliate divisions. Applicants must plan to enroll as entering full-time freshmen for the 2018-19 academic year at accredited four-year colleges or universities. Recipients will be selected based on academic achievement, leadership, character, need and the applicants’ intents to contribute to the future of the fuel and fluid handling equipment industry.

"College-bound children of PEI members already know about our industry from their parents, but our hope at PEI is that the Kemp scholarships will unveil to them the many career opportunities available in the industry,” said Rick Long, executive vice president and general counsel at PEI. “It’s one way PEI can expose promising young people to an industry that seeks them and needs them.”

The scholarships are named in honor and memory of Charles D. Kemp, longtime president of the White Tucker Co. and 1972 president of PEI. Kemp was committed to the fuel and fluid handling equipment industry, exhibited exemplary character and was devoted to the betterment of his community. The scholarships encourage and support students who reflect Kemp’s values and character.

The board of governors of the PEI Foundation and a scholarship selection committee will determine the number of Kemp scholarships. The annual awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, gender, disability or national origin.
