PEI PROMOTES WRIGHT TO EDITOR IN CHIEF

TULSA, Oklahoma, Oct. 3, 2017/Petroleum Equipment Institute/ -- Kristen Wright is the new editor in chief of the PEI Journal, the official publication of the Petroleum Equipment Institute (PEI). Her promotion is effective immediately.

In her new role, Wright is responsible for all editorial coverage in the PEI Journal, PEI Business Bullet monthly e-newsletter and member news and press releases published on the PEI website. Wright came to PEI in 2015 as managing editor of the PEI Journal.

“Kristen brings nearly 20 years of news experience with her, and that’s going to be evident as she takes over the PEI Journal,” said Rick Long, former editor in chief and current executive vice president and general counsel of PEI. “She’s done everything from reporting on hometown heroes to interviewing executives on the Forbes list to being a juror of an international engineering and technology competition in London. I know she'll lead the PEI Journal with that same level of professionalism.”

Wright joined PEI after working 12 years in print, broadcast and digital roles at PennWell, a global media and events company with 150 publications and 25 conferences and exhibitions. Before that, Wright worked as a newspaper reporter.

Her work has appeared in daily and weekly newspapers, trade magazines and textbooks around the world. Her reporting has been picked up by the Associated Press, and for six years her interviews focused on C-level executives at Fortune 500 power companies, tech startups and government.

“The PEI Journal is respected throughout the industry, and I’m honored to lead such a noteworthy publication,” Wright said. “Our members, Rick and the PEI team are why the PEI Journal is successful, and I hope to meet as many members as I can this next year to keep the content fresh, informative and maybe even entertaining.”

Wright has a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from The University of Oklahoma. She may be reached at kwright@pei.org and 918-236-3963.
