TULSA, Oklahoma, Dec. 11, 2020/Petroleum Equipment Institute/ -- High school seniors who are dependents of employees at PEI member companies may apply for the PEI Foundation’s $1,000 Charles D. Kemp Scholarships.
The deadline to apply for the 2021-22 academic year is 11:59 p.m. March 31, 2021.
“PEI member companies employ many parents of college-bound high school seniors, and the PEI Foundation wants to help pay for their college,” said Rick Long, executive vice president and general counsel at PEI. “This is one way PEI hopes to bring more young people to our industry.”
The scholarships recognize deserving students who are dependents of full-time employees of PEI member companies in manufacturer, distributor, service and construction or affiliate divisions.
Applicants must plan to enroll as entering full-time freshmen for the 2021-22 academic year at accredited four-year colleges or universities. Recipients will be selected based on academic achievement, leadership, character, need and the applicants’ intents to contribute to the future of the fuel and fluid handling equipment industry.
The scholarships are named in honor and memory of Charles D. Kemp, longtime president of the White Tucker Co. and 1972 president of PEI.
Kemp was committed to the fuel and fluid handling equipment industry, exhibited exemplary character and was devoted to the betterment of his community. The scholarships encourage and support students who reflect Kemp’s values and character.
The board of governors of the PEI Foundation and a scholarship selection committee will determine the number of Kemp scholarships.
The annual awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, gender, disability or national origin.
