The Petroleum Equipment Institute (PEI) has announced that the online version of the second quarter 2012 issue of the PEI Journal is now available at www.peijournal.org.
The 2Q issue explores the past 25 years of underground storage tank (UST) regulations by gathering expert opinions on the changes that have impacted the management and operation of UST systems. First, Marcel Moreau, a veteran industry consultant, describes eight ways the regulations forced the industry to reevaluate fundamental concepts. Then, eight other industry experts share their insights. The PEI Journal website includes a discussion board dedicated to UST regulations and their effect on the petroleum equipment and c-store industries.
This issue also features "Joplin: One Disaster, Many Lessons," an article written by Heather Peters, of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, that documents the lessons learned with regard to emergency preparedness after the disastrous Joplin, Mo., tornado of May 2011. This feature includes gripping photography of the impact of the storm on tank sites and forecourts.
Other articles in the 2Q PEI Journal include “Aboveground Tank Overfill Document Revised,” featuring Sonny Underwood, chairman of the PEI Aboveground Tank Overfill Prevention Committee, and “Distributor Profitability: Where Is It Headed?” and "LED Lighting: Making the Case" by Rick Long, PEI Journal editor in chief and PEI general manager, as well as an in-depth PEI member profile on member company Northwest Pump.
