So much is happening in our industry! The new UST regs, migration to EMV on the forecourt and numerous other issues are creating confusion--and opportunities! In almost all cases, it boils down to this: What do you need to do when?
Front and center are the new UST regs. Carolyn Hoskinson and her associates from the U.S. EPA Office of Underground Storage Tanks (OUST) will be on-site at the PEI Convention, in Las Vegas on October 11 - 14, 2015, to talk about the recently released regulations--the ins and outs of the complexities regarding timing and compliance, and answers to frequently asked questions. The group will present in the morning on the 12th and will follow-up in the afternoon with an hour Q&A in the PEI 1-on-1 Pavilion. Joining Carolyn will be Linda Gerber, Paul Miller, Tim Smith and Ryan Haerer.
Also weighing heavy on many minds are the intricacies of becoming EMV compliant on the forecourt in time for the October 2017 deadline. It's a mountain to climb, no doubt. And a shifting mountain at that. The "EMV on the Forecourt" session at the PEI Convention aims to bring some direction. Parker Burke of Gilbarco Veeder-Root and Tim Weston of Wayne Fueling Systems will discuss the equipment side, the software side and the many implications of going live. We will also have the benefit of hearing from Simon Stocks and Tiina McCombie, out of Europe and Canada, respectively, sharing their perspectives of living through implementation. And, as an aside, apparently "implementation" isn't just an initial phase but, rather, an ongoing state of being. After their session, which will be held on the 13th, they will be on hand in the afternoon in the PEI 1-on-1 Pavilion to answer specific questions and share more insights.
Then, too, are the big issues of Stage II vapor recovery decommissioning, the impact of the RFS on the equipment marketplace, DoL issues such as the new overtime proposal and the definition of independent contractors, and ULSD and its connection to corrosion. Attorney Jeff Leiter and Lorri Grainawi of STI join the roster to cover these important topics on the morning of the 12th.
Jeff will be at PEI 1-on-1 at noon to take a deeper dive into legislative and regulatory matters. Lori will also be at PEI 1-on-1 at 2:00 p.m. She will be joined by Ryan of OUST to talk specifically about corrosion and ULSD. Be sure to drop by and join the conversations.
